The 2001 Enterprise Web & Portal Conference & Exposition, presented by Intermedia Group (an internet.com company) and META Group, will hit Boston May 23-24, with help for CIOs, IT managers, content developers and others developing and deploying enterprise Web systems. The conference series will continue on the West Coast later this year, Sept. 5-6, at the Santa Clara (Calif.) Convention Center.
The Boston conference, co-sponsored by Epicentric, will focus on a spectrum of portal-related technology and management, including:
- The business case and cost justification for enterprise portal spending
- The potential for corporate portals for information sharing and content management
- How to access Web and portal services and sourcing
- Standards and architectures for portal deployment, content management and Web application development
- How to select portal products, services and solution providers
Conference presentations are aimed at the range of IT professionals whose job it is to develop and deploy Web systems. The four conference tracks include: Corporate Portals & e-Hubs; Data, Information & Content Management; Web Application Development, Deployment & Sourcing; and Web Platforms, Architectures & Operations.
A slate of keynote topics and speakers include:
- Weaving the Business Web: Meta Group’s David Cearley Sr., VP and co-research director of research operations, and David Folger, VP of Web and collaboration strategies
- Delivering the Standard for the Next Generation of Portals: Ed Anuff, chairman and chief strategy officer, Epicentric
- Corporate Portal Return on Investment: John Kunze, president and CEO, Plumtree Software
- Integrating the Next Best Thing: Dr. Richard Soley, chairman and CEO, Object Management Group.
David Folger, conference chairman and vice president of Web and collaboration strategies at Meta Group, expects virtually all corporate business processes to undergo a re-design centered on the “Enterprise Web.” He said, “Organizations of all sizes, across all vertical market segments, are actively building new classes of Web-based applications, engineered using a new generation of tools, technologies and techniques, and typically sporting a corporate portal as the front end.”
