The Software Subscriptions are Coming

It will take a lot more due diligence to determine what vendor can provide you with the stable, secure, reliable business process functions. You won’t be able to walk into the local software store and pick up a software package and walk out. Of course when you do that today you have to go back to your office and figure out how to install it and get trained on how to use it.

Today there are a number of business software providers reworking their business models to provide subscription services to well-known and stable applications. Take a look around at what you’re doing today and see if there’s an application that you can buy a subscription for and use that as a test case.

You’ll learn some things about the vendor and yourself and the way to you do business. The next time someone comes and says they have to buy a software package, ask if they’ve looked for a software subscription provider as an alternative to buying, installing, and maintaining a licensed product. In the end you’ll wind up with a better set of applications and a lot less headaches.
